DESCRIPTION:SPRINGFIELD\, Mo. (Nov. 9\, 2023) – Arvest Bank is excited to announce the return of the Arvest Classic on Nov. 30-Dec. 2\, 2023. The tournament\, now in its 9th year\, brings high school basketball teams from across Arkansas and Missouri to Springfield to compete in this preseason tournament. \n\nDue to a maintenance issue with Parkview High School’s gym\, this year’s tournament site will be Kickapoo High School. The tournament will still be hosted by Parkview’s basketball team\, though. \n\nThis year’s teams include defending champions De Smet Jesuit High School from St. Louis\, Mo.\, and 2022 runner-up Helias Catholic High School from Jefferson City\, Mo. Other teams include Kickapoo High School from Springfield\, Mo.; Lafayette High School from Wildwood\, Mo.; Lee’s Summit West High School from Lee’s Summit\, Mo.; Parkview High School from Springfield\, Mo.; Raytown High School from Raytown\, Mo.; and Rogers Heritage High School from Rogers\, Ark. Dance groups from Glendale High School\, Central High School\, Kickapoo High School\, Missouri State University\, Nixa High School\, Parkview High School and local businesses will provide this year’s halftime entertainment. \n\n“We’re excited for another year of the Arvest Classic\,” Arvest Bank’s Community Marketing Manager Chandler Johnston said. “Sponsoring community events like this is important to Arvest\, and we love welcoming these teams to Springfield and seeing the energy they bring to the tournament and our community. DESCRIPTION:Marathon Weekend events start in front of the Granddaddy of all sporting goods stores\, Bass Pro Shops\, and end in front of our Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium\, connected to the John A. and Genny Morris Conservation Center.\nRoutes wind participants through many beautiful neighborhoods\, several paved trails\, part of historic Route 66\, around Missouri State University and through downtown Springfield. The course offers a combination of flat areas and rolling hills\, typical to the Ozarks.\nA Boston qualifier\, the Bass Pro Fitness Series Conservation Marathon is an excellent race for both first-time competitors and seasoned athletes looking for an event with a great course and first class amenities. Local\, regional\, national and international runners and walkers will participate in the Bass Pro Conservation Marathon.\nThe Cohick Half Marathon\, runs with the marathon for the first 10 miles\, through downtown Springfield\, local parks\, by Mother’s Brewery (cold beer is available)\, and on part of the Ozark Greenways Trail. Walkers and runners will enjoy this pretty course.\nThe Conservation Marathon Relay offers 4 or 5 person teams the opportunity to complete the marathon distance without having to do it all at one time. The route is beautiful\, with just enough elevation to keep it interesting but not too difficult.\nThe 5K route takes participants behind Bass Pro Shops\, winding through neighborhoods and finishing in front of the Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium. SUMMARY:Springfield Rugby Football Club - 40th Anniversary Celebration
DESCRIPTION:To celebrate the 40 years of Springfield Rugby Football Club a reunion celebration and pub crawl will be held in conjunction with the Springfield 10s Rugby Tournament on August 18th and 19th.\n\n\nFestivities will begin on Friday\, August 18th on the patio/beer garden at Wire Road Brewing starting at 6pm. Food will be available from food trucks and the first beer is free.\n\n\nAfter socializing and telling lies a short video and speeches will be presented along with the unveiling of the players of the decade awards. These awards will be determined by an online poll starting in July allowing everyone to vote for their top players of the previous four decades.\n\n\n40th anniversary mugs\, t-shirts\, and pins will be available for purchase. There is no cost for this event and we hope for all ex-players\, current players\, and friends of Springfield Rugby can attend to celebrate 40 years and this past season’s final 8\, national ranking.\n\n\nAfter the 10’s tournament\, on Saturday 19th\, a pub crawl will start at 6:30pm with a party bus shuttling between Hotel Vandivort\, University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center\, Pappy’s Place BBQ\, Coyote’s Adobe Cafe\, and The Pitch Pizza & Pub. Join the pub crawl at any location for free beer and shuttle until 9:30 for only $20.
