SUMMARY:Dogwood Canyon Trail Runs - 15k\, 25k\, and 50k
DESCRIPTION:Set within the Dogwood Canyon Nature Park\, these trail runs offer a unique running experience. Dogwood Canyon is a natural paradise with over 10\,000 acres\, providing a fantastic variety of trails for our 50K/25K/15K trail runs. Located close to Lampe\, Missouri\, the trails take runners through both Missouri and Arkansas. This is truly a perfect trail race with rocks\, hills\, mud\, streams and more. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear and clothing as the race takes place rain or shine and the temperatures can range from the 20’s to the 70’s.\nEach trail run is unique\, but all runs share some of the same territory. The 15K has two aid stations while the 25K and 50K have 4 to 8 aid stations. Generally not technical\, the courses are hilly and somewhat rocky\, providing our runners with a physically challenging and satisfying experience. Parts of our Dogwood Canyon Trail Run courses are only open for our trail runs\, making the participants of this world-class event amongst the special few who are granted access to these majestic and hidden areas of the canyon. After their first trail run with us\, most participants make our Bass Pro Shops Fitness Series Dogwood Canyon Trail Runs an annual event. We love our runners!\nDOGWOOD CANYON 25K & 50K\nDate: Saturday\, November 11\nStart Time: 7:30 AM\nLocation: Dogwood Canyon Nature Park\, 2038 W. State Highway 86\, Lampe\, MO 65681\nCourse Time Limit: All courses will close between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM dependent on when the sun sets.\nAge Limit: Participants in the 25K must be at least 16 years old on or before race day and participants in the 50K must be at least 18 years old on or before race day.\nDOGWOOD CANYON 15K\nDate: Sunday\, November 12\nStart Time: 7:30 AM\nLocation: Dogwood Canyon Nature Park\, 2038 W. State Highway 86\, Lampe\, MO 65681\nCourse Time Limit: 3.5 hours; the course will close at 11:00 AM\nAge Limit: Participants in the 15K must be at least 16 years old on or before race day.\nTHE NORTH FACE CHALLENGE 15K/25K OR 15K/50K\nMost people who have experienced our Dogwood Canyon Trail Runs would agree that just completing one distance is difficult. Our 15K/25K and 15K/50K Challenge events\, sponsored by The North Face\, offer runners the opportunity to compete both Saturday and Sunday. The terrain is challenging in and of itself with steep hills\, water crossings\, rocks and ruts. Runners who choose to complete these events should be prepared for a great challenge! All participants competing in the North Face Challenge must be 18 years old on or before race day. This group of runners demonstrates that with hard work\, determination and effort\, anything is possible.\nACTIVITIES FOR FAMILY MEMBERS\nFamily members and friends can take advantage of some great activities offered at the nature park. SUMMARY:2023 Bass Pro Shops Conservation Marathon\, Half Marathon\, Relay and 5K
DESCRIPTION:Marathon Weekend events start in front of the Granddaddy of all sporting goods stores\, Bass Pro Shops\, and end in front of our Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium\, connected to the John A. and Genny Morris Conservation Center.\nRoutes wind participants through many beautiful neighborhoods\, several paved trails\, part of historic Route 66\, around Missouri State University and through downtown Springfield. The course offers a combination of flat areas and rolling hills\, typical to the Ozarks.\nA Boston qualifier\, the Bass Pro Fitness Series Conservation Marathon is an excellent race for both first-time competitors and seasoned athletes looking for an event with a great course and first class amenities. Local\, regional\, national and international runners and walkers will participate in the Bass Pro Conservation Marathon.\nThe Cohick Half Marathon\, runs with the marathon for the first 10 miles\, through downtown Springfield\, local parks\, by Mother’s Brewery (cold beer is available)\, and on part of the Ozark Greenways Trail. Walkers and runners will enjoy this pretty course.\nThe Conservation Marathon Relay offers 4 or 5 person teams the opportunity to complete the marathon distance without having to do it all at one time. The route is beautiful\, with just enough elevation to keep it interesting but not too difficult.\nThe 5K route takes participants behind Bass Pro Shops\, winding through neighborhoods and finishing in front of the Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium. DESCRIPTION:The Halloween Hustle is a local race put on by local people with 100% of proceeds benefiting a local charity—the Harmony House. The race starts and ends at City Utilities\, 301 East Central Street. This relatively flat race route winds through historic mid-town Springfield. Expect no tricks\, but lots of treats at the Halloween Hustle—with candy for your little ghosts and goblins on every corner. An event for kids of all ages—runners are encouraged get in the holiday spirit and wear their Halloween costumes. \nThe Halloween Hustle benefits Harmony House—Springfield’s only domestic abuse shelter. The Harmony House provides shelter\, advocacy\, and education to survivors of domestic abuse. Every penny raised form the Halloween Hustle will support the Harmony House and the work they do every day. When you take part in the Halloween Hustle\, you are helping the Harmony House provide a safe\, warm place for a survivor of domestic abuse and their child. When you get involved\, you are giving a survivor a chance to escape abuse and giving them access to resources such as food\, clothing\, court advocacy\, life skills classes and more. SUMMARY:Battle for the Bell 7
DESCRIPTION:The 7th annual “Battle for Bell” will take place on Thursday\, October 19\, 2023 at Hammons Field. Game One between the BBC Patriots and Evangel University Valor baseball teams will start at noon with gates opening at 11 AM for the first game. The main event with Drury University Panther baseball facing off against the Missouri State Bears will begin at 6:30 PM with gates opening at 5 PM. \nTickets are $5 each and can be purchased here or at the gate. Parking will be available in the city lot across from Hammons Field.  All proceeds from the games will benefit the Howard Bell ALS Clinic at CoxHealth.\nThis event honors the late Howard Bell\, a former standout for Parkview High School and then Missouri State University. Bell returned post college to coach 28 seasons at Springfield’s Glendale High School and its American Legion program\, earning well north of 800 combined victories. He became Glendale’s head coach in 2006 and ran the club through 2012\, compiling an 87-69 record and winning four Ozark Conference championships. Coach Bell was an inspiration to hundreds of teens and never more so than in 2012 as he publicly fought Lou Gehrig’s disease\, also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He passed away in March 2013 at the age of 48\, but only after dropping by school every day to visit with students and to attend his team’s practices and games. His courage in this fight with a terminal disease inspired the “Battle For Bell” event which led to the funding of the first ALS Clinic in Southwest Missouri\, located at CoxHealth.
